Araby by James Joyce
Rating: 9/10
Araby is the adventure and failure of a boy who fell in
love. The boy who fell in love want to do everything for her. To bring the araby’s
goods, he faced a lot of frustration and pains. For various reasons, he realized
that he was lethargic. Like other short story of Dubliners, this story has a lot
of literature techniques that make more fascinating story. The former owner of boy’s
house is the ‘priest’. That makes Dubliners one story, not just a bundle of many
short story. And another literature technique which l was impressed is the
description of boy’s sexual desire; a classic masturbatory situation. To convey
his content, Joyce used a direct expression. I think that authors should use
direct and plain expression to represent their idea
