Rating: 9/10 Araby is the adventure and failure of a boy who fell in love. The boy who fell in love want to do everything for her. To bring the araby’s goods, he faced a lot of frustration and pains. For various reasons, he realized that he was lethargic. Like other short story of Dubliners, this story has a lot of literature techniques that make more fascinating story. The former owner of boy’s house is the ‘priest’. That makes Dubliners one story, not just a bundle of many short story. And another literature technique which l was impressed is the description of boy’s sexual desire; a classic masturbatory situation. To convey his content, Joyce used a direct expression. I think that authors should use direct and plain expression to represent their idea

Rating: 8/10  What is the real meaning of Happiness? Which perspectives we should choose to approach to the meaning of happiness, for society or for individual? Former one is about utilitarianism. they say, “the greatest happiness of the greatest number”. But there is a kind of trap which this short story also talked about. In a community, if someone gets happiness or interest, the other may be unhappy or make loss. For example, if I get into a good job like a lawyer, a doctor, someone must fail. Because opportunities are limited in the human society. Then, is there a real happiness? So, I think we should happiness is more personal one. I don’t mean egoism or individualism. The friends and acquaintances’ happiness is also necessary for one’s happiness. Self-realization can make happiness.

 Rating- 7/10 This story is talking about a priest’s die through the boy’s perspective who was close to priest. James joyce used a lot of metaphor and hidden message. In fact, the priest had an undesirable sexual inclination. And this terrible inclination is caused by the high-pressure sexual culture in priest society. The story’s view, a small boy, made the writing more special, dreamy and mysteriously. The boy didn’t face the priest’s die directly. He experienced dead mediately. He heard the old priest’s last through the priest’s acquaintances. Additionally, Paralysis is one of the important keywords. The boy imagined ‘the paralysis’ to see the priest’s dead. It means the paralysis of the Ireland society. I think James joyce want to represent the love and attention about Ireland and its Irish.

 Ratings: 7/10   The rady with the dog is the story about ‘love’ that is prohibited, bur true. Marry is the result of love between couples. When two people love each other, they promised that they live together during their other life. Marry is evidence of love and a kind of social pledge. But, there are the married couples who don’t love each other. This tragic pledge can be caused by a pressure of family, an ignorance about one’s partner or a fraud of one side etc. Dmitri and Anna, the two main characters of the story are also those who had wife or husband that they are not loving. Due to their foolish marry, they fall in love each other. At that time, what kind of love can we say true love? Fair, but not loved marry? Or Trust love that is prohibited in society? This story makes me think about what is the true emotion in the human relationship.

 The student by Anton Chekhov (1894) Rating 7.5/10 The 8 th  journey:  the ordeal-> the talking with   Vasilisa, the actually it is not seen as a kind of general ordeal, due to this conversation, Ivan  Velikopolsky  can have enlightening   This story is a kind of special  bildungsroman. There are no fighting between superhero with villain or Huge disaster that can destroy the earth. There are just the conversation between t he student  and  the two widows, mother and daughter, the changing of the skeptical student, and the great literature technique of the writer, Anton Chekhov. In the story, Ivan had skeptical view about Russian’s lives and human beings ultimately. After telling Saint Peter’s story and seeing Vasilisa’s tear, however, he realized a mysterious, but clear connection of present and past.   The sound of thunder is the story about the ‘butterfly effect’. In the story, After Eckles killed a butterfly, Many things in the present become different; president, language, etc…. Reading this short writing, I felt the dangerous of human’s arrogance. Even though Eckles stepped the butterfly and change the everything including the good president, who brought him into the past are the company ‘time safari’ and the workers like Travis and the Guides. The company ‘Time Safari’ must be sure about their time travel and various safety device like anti-gravity metal path, a lot of guides and hunters, also the experience of former hunts. In commonsense, however, there are the countless variable. Human can’t measure all of that. If there were no Eckles or Eckle’s mistake. The accident must have happened whenever time safari is being sold.
